Remember when Vinyl was king?
Remember when vinyl was king? Way before the Ipod, CD’s and even cassette tapes, vinyl records reigned supreme. Vinyl records have helped launch the careers of legends across every genre especially in the 50’s,60’s and 70’s. The vinyl record’s domination of the music market continued until the nineties when the advent of the CD finally dethroned the vinyl record.
But guess what? Vinyl is now making a comeback along with turntables, tube amps and every bit of vintage audio electronic gear imaginable. Many of our younger generation have come to discover the warm and rich sound that can only come from a vinyl record played on vintage equipment....and they can’t get enough of it. So now, when I go hunting for records and gear at local markets, I’m having to compete with the young ones as well as the oldies. In fact, my teenage son is so hooked on vinyl records that mine keep disappearing! He tells me that many new bands are now selling vinyl records and provide a free CD or Mp3 with each record sold. Who would have guessed? Anyhow, I have a grin from ear to ear when I say, vinyl is once again back in the groove.
